Got Some Questions?    Here's Some Answers.............

WHERE DO THE TOURS START?
The start and finish city for each tour is detailed in the tour brochure which can be downloaded from the website. Most participants choose to travel in a loose convoy following the tour leader, particularly early in a tour but there is no obligation to do so and you may make you own way if you wish.   We only ask that you check in to our overnight hotel by the requested time or meet any other scheduled events to avoid inconveniencing other participants.

I HAVEN'T DRIVEN IN ANOTHER COUNTRY BEFORE.  IS IT DIFFICULT?
If you are changing from right to left hand drive, or vice versa is not as difficult as imagined and you will find that you will settle in to the “wrong” side of the car within a couple of hours.     No navigation skills are required and each car is provided with a GPS navigator (to be returned at the end of the tour) with each day of the tour route loaded so you just need to follow the spoken directions and if you choose to take a detour, the GPS will get you back on track.    We also provide you with a detailed itinerary road book, which includes notes on the various towns we will pass through each day.

WHAT KIND OF HOTELS DO WE STAY IN?

All tour itineraries has been driven and checked by the tour leaders and each hotel personally inspected.   Wherever possible we stay in not less than 4 star establishments and most tours are definitely 5 Star so one night you may be in an historic country house and the next in a 5 Star contemporary hotel.   Your accommodation will include outstanding scenery, character and service.   Fine food is also near the top of the list and all accommodation is chosen to reflect the nature and style of the region through which we are travelling.

WHAT MEALS ARE INCLUDED?

Breakfast is included every day and a 14-day tour would normally include 6 or 7 dinners.  The Welcome and Farewell dinners include beer, wine and sodas and other included dinners are usually on the first night when we are staying more than one night at a hotel or we are in a remote location.   On other nights, dinner is of your choosing and we can provide you with options if you do not wish to dine in the hotel.   Lunches are usually not included except when we have the opportunity to dine somewhere that offers something rewarding, such as the Post Ranch perched high on a cliff overlooking the rugged coast at Big Sur on California’s north coast, at a Napa Valley winery or Blenheim Palace in the UK.

DO YOU PROVIDE ANY SUPPORT?
Subject to the tour type, we sometimes supply a support vehicle for excess luggage, but no mechanical backup is provided.     If you are renting a car, the supplier will provide support but if you are using your own car we strongly recommend that you arrange for reciprocal cover through your local car club or arrange independent breakdown insurance.   Naturally we will do all we can to assist in the event of a breakdown and you will be provided with a list of contact numbers in your tour pack at the start of the tour.

WHAT IS THE DAILY ROUTINE?
You can leave the overnight accommodation at your leisure.     If you are following the tour leader we will generally leave around 9:00 am with a view to arriving at the evening accommodation by 5:00pm and the departure time for the next day will be in the Daily Update emailed to you each evening.   On “CAR” orientated tours you will see some outstanding auto collections but there is always something for everyone especially the fairer sex.    We visit the tour country’s most spectacular locations and attractions from the ocean to the alps and you will drive through some of the most amazing country you will see anywhere.       Socialising and relaxation are vital to the enjoyment of your holiday and each day we recommend morning and afternoon stops and somewhere interesting for lunch.   For the shoppers there are ample opportunities to secure a bargain or acquire that something that you just can’t live without.

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?
Daywear is as informal as you wish and “smart casual” is sufficient for evening wear.   On a few occasions you may choose to be more a little formal such as at Salon Prive or the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance where attire should be stylish comfortable and convenient for walking.   On the Goodwood Revival tour we recommend joining in the spirit of the event and dressing in your best 50’s and 60’s attire.  Styles range from dressy to resort casual.   Temperatures are often cool in the morning and evening, and warm during the day, so layering is recommended.    We generally do not have formal evenings.

WHAT TYPES OF CARS ARE ON TOUR?
If you are shipping you own car there are no restrictions other than your car should be reliable and be able to pass the local registration requirements.   As temperatures may range from quite warm to cold depending upon tour and location, good heating and ventilation should be considered.     If you are renting a car through us, cars included in the tour are Luxury Class but we can also offer you a wide choice of vehicles and you can choose between a wide range of convertibles and coupes from European to American Muscle cars depending upon location.  Each tour itinerary nominates the base car included in the tour but don’t forget to ask for options or upgrades if the standard car is not to your liking.

HOW FAR DO WE DRIVE EACH DAY?
This varies from day to day and we try to limit car time to 3 to 4 hours maximum.    In some cases this will mean covering a substantial distance on freeways and motorways and on other quite a short distance.   There are many days on each tour where there is little if no distance to cover and we try to have as many multiple day stops as possible rather than be moving every day.     We try to avoid motorways and freeways whenever possible and the vast majority of our driving is on quieter back roads.

WHAT TYPE OF PEOPLE WILL I MEET ON TOUR?

The common interest is a love of driving, adventure, good food, fine wine and interesting company.   Age range is generally in the more “mature” bracket and you will meet people from many and varied backgrounds.   We usually limit the number of cars to 15 or 30 people and you will be sure to find other participants that share your interests.   Some have been touring for years while others are first time tourers.
